Checking a Wi-Fi link usually means dragging a laptop to the far corner of the house. iPerf 2 & 3 puts the same tool on the phone: point it at any iperf server — or turn the phone itself into one — and read throughput, jitter and loss as the test runs.

It is an independent implementation of both protocols, so it talks to the iperf you already have on the bench: the 2.x and 3.x builds are different, incompatible wire formats, and the app lets you pick the one that matches the other side.
